Makeup Revolution Awesome Metals Foil Finish Eyes // A review

Hi Sweets,
Makeup Revolution has really carved out their spot in the beauty world as the place to shop for quality dupes with affordable prices and although I have only ever swatched the Stilla magnificent metals, I think Awesome Metals by Revolution are super close.

Radiance Radiant Lights Palette // Makeup Revolution

Hi Sweets,
When it comes to highlight I like a subtle skin-like glow, don't get me wrong there is always room for a bit of over the top “disco fever” but, in general I go for the natural sheen.  So when I was looking into Makeup Revolution there was one product that kept popping up, the Radiant Lights palette and wow this is like instant luminosity, incased in an affordable compact.

Wire Wrapped Pendant // How to

Hi Sweets,
There is something so satisfying when you can make something yourself, so this week I am bringing you lovely readers a DIY I hope you will really like.  Rock/gem caged necklaces have been quite popular recently and I have wanted to turn some of my faves from my collection into fashion pieces for a while.  Ok, so  fashion might be a bit of a stretch, I mean currently  I am  typing away in an old black hoody with a green monster on it and a pair of black leggings #outfitonfleek, but I really think think these gems are the perfect accessory for any outfit (casual or dressy).

New in // A haul

Hi Sweets,
I am currently doing my best to limit my spending when it comes to beauty.  With the never ending limited addition collections and new products coming out constantly its almost f#@king impossible to save money (well I'm speaking about myself and my amazing lack of self-control when it comes to all things makeup).  So naturally I am bringing you a haul… a very small, modest haul but still a haul #whatisadultlife.

A family classic with a zesty twist // Apple Crumble

Hi Sweets,
There’s nothing better than the sweet scent of butter, cinnamon and brown sugar wafting through the house.  And on a chilly autumn evening I can’t think of anything better than relaxing with a hot cup of tea and a generous helping of Zesty Apple Crumble, while binge watching #OITNB season 3 for the second/third time.   This dessert is a great addition to any season, the zesty tang of the apples perfectly compliment the spring and summer seasons, while the warm crispy browned topping and decadent cream are a wonderful match for any cold autumn/winter evening (or breakfast haha).

Let’s talk skin // part. 1

Hi Sweets,
Moreish skincare, is a brand that I hadn’t really heard about and then all of a sudden there was a small selection of products on the shelves and a few New Zealand beauty bloggers were sharing PR samples on their social media and I was instantly intrigued.  I love supporting New Zealand brands and also really like to use organic or natural sourced skincare so couldn’t wait to try the range out.

Autumnal favourites // beauty edition

Hi Sweets,
Makeup for me is like accessories to a fashion enthusiast, nothing beats a strong lip colour, good smoky eye and luxurious base.  With the full force of autumn and the sneaky cold tundra that is winter peeking its way through the autumn breeze, I thought I would share some of my seasonal favourites.

ColourPop 'In Bloom' Collaboration // A Review

Hi Sweets,
If you’re new to my blog let me introduce myself…  My name is Rachill and I am a ColourPop junkie.  I have reviewed a lot of their goodies (see here, here, here and here) and completely believe they deserve the hype that their products generate!  I have trialled everything they offer (except for their bronzers) and love everything I own.  My only complaint is that some of my super shock shadows and super shock cheeks have come apart from their pottles during transit, but that hasn't affected the performance of each item.

A night at the theatre

Hi Sweets,
There is nothing like a night out at the theatre.  A month ago I went and saw the Phantom of The Opera!  It was amazing, the acting was superb and the singing was out of this world and the costumes were beautiful!  I was lucky enough to snag some really good seats (dropped a pretty penny for them) and thankfully had some wonderful company, who like me, is a bit of a theatre addict!  The curtains pulled back the opening scene started and I was whisked away to a wonderful world of opulence, intrigue, betrayal, love and passion!  The entire experience was breath-taking and as we left the theatre we both had one of those big ‘just been to the theatre and it was mind-blowing’ happy grins on our faces.

ZOEVA ROSE GOLDEN COMPLETE EYE SET VOL. 2 // review

Hi Sweets,
When I first started using makeup I had no idea makeup brushes even existed!  I thought the tools needed to slap on this new and transformative ‘stuff’ was the classic triangular makeup sponge, the puff that came in my Maybelline dream matte powder and the sponge tip applicators were all I needed when adding a little grey to the lower lash line, stark white to the inner corner and champagne to the lid (and if the eyeshadow I used didn’t come with an applicator, a cotton bud would work just fine!).  As I become more interested in makeup and developing any sort of ‘technique’ I was introduced to the weird and wonderful world of brushes!  Did you know there was more than one kind of eye brush *mind blown*

Burberry Light Glow - Natural blush // a review

Hi Sweets
As I write this I am listening to the rampaging of Vikings.  Ever since Netflix reached NZ shores I have been unashamedly binge watching Freaks and Geeks, Firefly, Vikings and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and have been loving it, haha.  Another thing that I have been loving (nice segway no?.... not really haha). Anyway… I have been swooning over two Burberry Blushes that I can’t believe took me so long to add to my collection.

Zoeva - Naturally Yours // a review and swatches

Hi Sweets,
When it comes to eyeshadows I always go for neutrals, I very rarely venture out from my neutral safety blanket, only sometimes going a lil cray and using a navy blue or maybe even purple on the lower lash line or outer corner (woah! thrill seeker) - I mean I hardly even use black eyeshadow.  I favour the warm toned browns, yellow toned highlights and occasionally and cool taupe.  So when I was ordering some brushes from Zoeva (review coming Sunday) I naturally couldn’t help myself and got the ‘Naturally Yours’ palette as well.

You know that saying there’s something about Mary, and even though no one can really explain what that something is, we all understand what that saying means?  Well that’s how I feel about matte eye shadows.

Autumn Edit // The Burberry Face

Hi Sweets,
Autumn is here and this year I’ve been feeling light to medium bases that have a natural glow to them.  I haven’t worn full coverage anything for a long time now!  Some of that has to do with my skincare (which I will be sharing next week), as well as the fact that I don’t like the feeling of my skin suffocating underneath the ‘cement’ that is Estee Lauders Double Wear (for example).

When I actually wear makeup, which as I have mentioned before is usually in the weekends, I want something that will meet a few simple requirements.  1.  A sheer but buildable base 2.  Lasts at least 4 hours before it needs touch ups and 3.  Makes my skin look healthy.  I have quite a few foundations that meet these requirements but lately I have been favouring my Burberry Sheer Foundation in Trench no.03 and the Fresh Glow Nude Radiance in no.01.

Burberry Sheer Foundation – this foundation is right up there with my favourite foundations which are Bourjois Healthy Mix and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua!  The Sheer Foundation has a sheer luminous formula that instantly gives the skin that ‘lit from within’ look that everyone talks about.  It has the whole ‘no makeup, makeup’ thing down , but still manages to perfect the skin in a very subtle, natural way.  I prefer the coverage I can get with a brush, particularly the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage brush, as it blends the foundation really well and builds the coverage up where needed, like my rosy cheeks and scarring, (we can thank face demons for those).  As the name suggests it is sheer but you can build it up a few layers before it looks cakey but, if you do have any major things to cover I would go in with a concealer first.  The only thing I don’t love about this foundation is the colour, I did a lot of online research before choosing my colour and even then its probably a trench to dark.  Most of the colours are quite pinky and I prefer neutral or yellow undertones, so to get the perfect colour I mix it with a lighter foundation (Revlon Nearly Naked in 120).  I find that the Burberry Sheer Foundation lasts on my normal to combo skin for a good 4 hours, before I need to touch up with a powder.

Burberry Fresh Glow Nude Radiance – this is like sunlight in a bottle.  A miracle worker when your skin is feeling a little dull, one pump of this over the skin and POW you're instantly refreshed.  Whenever I wear the Nude Radiance, I feel like I am applying some kind of magical product that makes it look like I actually got a good night sleep or something to that effect.  It adds an incandescent glow that shines subtly through any base and looks amazing under the Sheer Foundation.  It is pearlescent rather than glittery and has a light weight texture that blends so smoothly and does a great job of "waking up” the face.  These two are a match made in makeup heaven.  You can wear this as a primer, mix it in with your base or use it like a liquid highlighter.  I like to use it with my current primer (see review here).
To finish off my Autumn-Burberry inspired face, I like to dust over the Burberry Sheer Powder in Porcelain no.02 in the T-zone.  This powder looks so natural on the face and gives a velvety skin like appearance and does a great job at setting the makeup.  I also used the Warm Glow in Nude Glow no.03 to give the face some natural colour and contour.  Nude Glow is a matte brown, which provides a natural sun kissed look to the face, as it has an orange undertone.

What are some of your go to bases?  I am always on the lookout for a new foundation.  Have you been using any combinations that have become your go to?

ColourPop Lippie Stix + Lippie Pencils // pt.2

Hi Sweets,
There isn’t much more I can say about how good ColourPop Cosmetics, they are a high end product for an affordable price (see my other posts here, here and here.  All their products have fantastic colour payoff, build really well, are long wearing and the packaging is sleek and modern, with a girly touch.  The quality and textures are consistent throughout their product range and that isn’t a claim I can make for many brands.  So when I placed my most recent order for their Super Shock Cheek colours, I of course ordered some of their Lippie Stix and matching Lippie Pencils (I also got the Megan Naik quad).

Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils // A review

Hi Sweets,
After what seemed an age the Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils (long enough name?) finally came out in NZ and have recently been stocked in store.  After seeing many amazing Uk and NZ bloggers review these lip pencils and with them comparing the lipsticks to the NARS lip pencils, I knew I would want to get my hands on these.  I stalked the shelves of Farmers and the like for a good month and finally they are available and this makes me sooooo f***ing happy!

Anastasia Beverly Hills // Brows

Hi Sweets,
Today I am sporting some major, m-a-j-o-rrr caterpillars, so what better day than today to share with you some of my current go to brow products.   Now I know what you’re thinking… ‘rebel’ and while I would love that to be true, it just isn’t.    .These beastly brows aren’t being grown out to be reshaped or any such excuse, I just haven’t been f**ked getting them waxed or threaded.  These products are my go to because even with my overgrown hedges, I can still manage to create natural, defined brows that frame the face and look somewhat tamed (no small feat).

The Garneir Perfect Blur 5 Sec Smoothing Base Perfector - A Review

Hi Sweets,
The Garneir Perfect Blur 5 Sec Smoothing Base Perfector claims a bucket load of amazing features, such as a formula that diffuses light, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, open pores and uneven skin tone.  Although I don’t have the biggest pores or an extreme amount of fine lines, the Perfect Blur has become my ‘go to’ primer.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit - time to create some cheekbones

Hi Sweets,
Contouring!  There is nothing better than applying a great base, and turning a semi ‘flat’ looking face into a sculpted, defined face that is ready to take on the day, honey (insert sassy finger snapping), with cheekbones high and highlight glowing.  I have a round face, so I don’t do anything too extreme, just add a simple shadow and give my face a little bit more of an angular appearance.  And if you are anything like me you LOOOOVE palettes, so the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit was something I was instantly interested in.

I have had it for about 3 weeks now and have tried out all of the products (except one) and have been quite happy with what I got.

Lashes… dun dun dun dunnnn, the one beauty product that sends many a makeup enthusiast running in the other direction.  Not because they are a horrible product or ruin makeup looks, quite the opposite really, but because they are super intimidating.  We are talking Regina George intimidating… at least for me anyway.  Well that was until I found my holy grail lashes!!
